After playing the famously unlovely leading matron in director Cary Fukunaga’s fashionable film alteration of Jane Eyre, Mia Wasikowska could do with some glamour. Aptly, the petite, approximately pixieish actress donned a floaty, chiffon-dappled Elie Saab tea-length frock by the W journal and Saab-hosted (that’s the automaker, not the Lebanese designer) screening last night and it was something of a relief. “I always detect the costume namely the last piece of the puzzle for getting into character,” Wasikowska said. “Especially for this movie, it was so momentous to feel the repression. The corsets are awful, I couldn’t await to get out of it each day.”
Set to open in select theaters extensive this Friday, this remake of the Charlotte Brontë classic novel is the latest in a long line of cinematic interpretations. But the coming-of-age (and finding love, certainly) contrive never seems to exhaust its evergreen pray, especially surrounded a natty petticoat set. Glenn Close, her daughter Annie Starke, and Zoë Kravitz entire caught the flick and after-party later at the Soho Grand Hotel. Rose Byrne professed that “it was an of my preference books I peruse in educate. It’s an of the seminal novels.” (The casual guy has a soft spot for it too, favor designer Thakoon Panichgul, at left with Wasikowska, who stopped along the bash.)
Another chapter of the draw was Wasikowska’s co-star, the handsome Michael Fassbender. (The duo likewise posed together as the April cover of W.) In the movie, the player takes on the conflicted character of Edward Rochester, a man who locks his crazy wife up in the attic. “He’s a really distressed guy, nearly bipolar you could say,” Fassbender depicted. Lucky for the ladies, his real-life character was much more light-hearted. The actor revealed namely Catcher in the Rye was his favored classic. “Although,” he joined with a laugh, “Winnie the Pooh was really the premier book apt make an impression aboard me.”
