"Kara is one of the world's best songwriters. She has been passionate and committed to Idol over the last two seasons,Burberry," show creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said. "I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come."
But DioGuardi -- who is following in the footsteps of ex-Idol judges Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres -- isn't parting on bad terms with the cast and crew.

Kara DioGuardi confirmed she is leaving the singing competition, less than two months after it was falsely reported she was fired from the hit show.

The 39-year-old songwriter -- who joined the show in 2008 as the program's fourth judge -- says she had a blast nurturing the rising new talent during her tenure.
